Hawaii is a favourite among tourists travelling for recreation, as well as those searching for some tranquillity amid nature. However, planning a vacation to Hawaii is easier said than done because Hawaii has an indigenous culture and a local community that has spread across multiple islands that boast of their natural sights, activities, flora, fauna, etc. So, if you want to absorb every aspect of the Islands on your Hawaii holidays, you must plan carefully. Island-hopping in Hawaii
O’ahu O’ahu is the starting point for every Hawaii vacation. O’ahu comprises of the most notable urbanised locations in Hawaii such as Pearl Harbor, Lanikai Beach and Waikiki, among others. In peak travel season, O’ahu’s beaches and tourist destinations are always crowded. So, once you land in Honolulu, be sure to experience O’ahu, ‘the Heart of Hawaii’, as fast as you can and leave. Maui Maui is a beautiful island that boasts of a sparse population, and therefore, you will always find unpolluted, unpopulated beaches. Maui is mostly visited by honeymooners and couples on romantic getaways, which has also produced the nickname ‘Honeymoon Island’. The volcanic peak of Haleakala offers an exciting and adventurous trek. You must also visit the waterfalls and natural pools strewn across the rainforests, before concluding the island trip at Kapalua Beach with a sunset. Hawai’i The actual island of Hawaii is surprisingly the youngest of the lot, in terms of a community settlement. However, the size differential makes the Hawaii Island tour all the more time-consuming. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a must-visit. The volcanic terrain has also spawned the magnificent green beach of Papakolea and Punanlu’u, with its black sand. Once you have witnessed the volcanoes of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, you can return to the beaches or head to Waipio Valley. Kaua’i The island of Kaua’i is affectionately known as the ‘Garden Isle’ because the majority of the island is submerged in rainforest wilderness. The Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park and the Waimea Canyon State Park offer you some excellent trails and viewpoints. The Kalalau Trail is also excellent for camping under a clear Hawaiian night-sky, and backpacking. Finally, you can rest once you reach the Hanalei Bay beaches. When to Visit and How to Plan the Itinerary? Hawaii is best visited between November and April as these are the peak holiday seasons. However, if you are travelling for peace and wish to avoid the hiked plane-fares, then you should visit during April, May, September and October. The chances of your Hawaii holidays being ruined by the crowd and commotion is lesser. These off-season months are also suitable if you are planning a long vacation, as in the peak seasons the tourists throng the main attractions here. So, if you are planning to experience everything Hawaii has to offer and cover all the islands in one trip, then visit during April, May, September and October. The peak holiday season is better for short trips.
